EPC Improvement Calculator.
Use the EPC improvement guide to understand which fabric, heating, hot-water, lighting and renewable measures should be modelled before a qualified assessor lodges a new certificate.
What does EPC Improvement Calculator do?
Use the EPC improvement guide to understand which fabric, heating, hot-water, lighting and renewable measures should be modelled before a qualified assessor lodges a new certificate.
What it is
One template, stamped per EPC band (A–G): "what this rating means + how to improve it", each routing to the SAP/EPC engine to model the upgrade. "how to improve epc" is the hub.
Strategy
Intent splits: part "what E means" (info), part "how to get off E" (improvement = our value). Page = brief definition → improvement tool → SAP/EPC engine models the upgrade. Thin definition page converts nothing; improvement tool converts the same traffic. Per-label = programmatic SEO: one template, 7 stamped pages.
From project input to reviewed output.
The page explains the workflow, identifies the information required and routes the user into Adelphos for the complete task.
Adelphos workflow
Provide the brief and source information, confirm the required output, run the applicable named tools, then review the result and resolve assumptions before use.
The user is responsible for verifying all inputs, assumptions, standards, selections, outputs and suitability, and for obtaining competent-person review. Adelphos accepts no responsibility for decisions made using this calculation.
What can improve an EPC rating?
Start with the recommendations and recorded inputs on the current certificate. Model each suitable measure before committing to work: an improvement can only be confirmed when the property is reassessed and a new EPC is lodged.
1. Check the current EPC data
Confirm floor area, construction type, insulation, glazing, heating, hot water and lighting. Incorrect source data can distort both the rating and the recommendations.
2. Improve roof and loft insulation
Review accessible roof spaces and the insulation recorded by the assessor. The appropriate build-up depends on the roof construction, moisture control and existing condition.
3. Review wall and floor insulation
Model cavity-wall, solid-wall and suspended-floor measures only where they suit the actual construction. Survey condition, ventilation and condensation risk before specifying work.
4. Reduce uncontrolled heat loss
Consider draught-proofing, doors and glazing alongside the ventilation strategy. Airtightness measures must retain safe, controlled ventilation.
5. Upgrade heating and controls
Compare the recorded heat source, distribution efficiency, time and temperature controls, zoning and emitter performance. Model the complete system rather than one product in isolation.
6. Improve domestic hot water
Review the water-heating system, cylinder insulation, primary pipe insulation and controls. The suitable measures depend on the installed system and demand.
7. Record low-energy lighting
Check the proportion of fixed low-energy outlets and make sure the assessor can verify the completed installation.
8. Model renewable generation
Solar PV and other low-carbon measures may affect the model, but orientation, shading, system size, tariffs and the calculation methodology all matter.
Use recommendations as modelling inputs, not promises
An EPC is produced under the applicable assessment methodology. Costs, savings and rating changes vary by property and assessment date; a competent assessor must verify the inputs and lodge the certificate.

Frequently asked questions.
How do i improve my epc rating?
Start from a complete, version-locked SAP 10.3 assessment owned by the authenticated user. The Adelphos scenario engine can model an explicit supported fabric change by running the canonical SAP calculation before and after it; the result is hypothetical and is not an official EPC or a product recommendation.
What does an epc e rating mean?
An EPC E rating is the band shown on a specific lodged certificate under the applicable assessment method. Use the certificate itself for its score, assumptions and recommendations. The Adelphos scenario report compares controlled model runs but does not replace a lodged EPC.
How to get my epc from e to c?
There is no guaranteed generic route from E to C. A qualified assessor must verify the building data and proposed measures. Adelphos can calculate supported fabric scenarios from an owned assessment, but it does not promise a band change or generate an official certificate.

How do I use EPC Improvement Calculator?
Open Adelphos Chat with the project brief and relevant source files. Adelphos will identify the required inputs, run the applicable workflow and present the output for review.
Can an AI agent use this through MCP?
Where the workflow exposes a named MCP tool, an authorised agent can submit the structured inputs and receive the same traceable result. Consequential outputs remain subject to user review.
Use Adelphos for the full workflow.
